Good gluten and dairy free bread! July 14, 2010 Ms Simone (Seattle,WA USA) For me, gluten free bread is all about texture, and Ener-G's Tapioca loaf delivers. I bought a loaf just to try and spread some dairy free butter on it and I could feel the texture even as I was spreading on the butter: It was just right. Not only was it edible (which is alot compared to many gluten free breads out there), it was actually quite tasty and I ended up eating another slice! Like most gluten-free breads, the trick is in toasting the bread first. The Tapioca Loaf is a welcome substitue for the gluteny goo I've been putting in myself for years. This will be a welcome substite to my pantry.

I think this is my third or fourth case of Ener-G bread from Amazon but something new happened today.
When it arrives I usually put the loaves in the freezer w/in 24 hrs. I just now pulled a bag out of the freezer, removed the white tab and dumped the loaf on the table. The tapioca bread is wrapped with an air tight inner wrapper and an outer plastic bag. Not only did the loaf slide out of the bag but so did some kind of insect larvae. As I went back the freezer to check the other bags I noticed the outer bags had little holes punched in them on purpose. I suppose so the outer bags won't pop or will box up more easily. I'm guessing this is how the little guy got in but still.. kind of gross. I'm not so "bugged" that I won't eat the bread since it was still protected by the inner wrapper but I thought I would mention it.
My favorite gluten free bread May 16, 2010 L. Woods (NC) This is my favorite gluten free bread because it's not as heavy as most. It's great toasted and the best part is storing it at room temp. until opening it (I am short of freezer space). The slices are a little on the small side but otherwise it is perfect, and you will have this problem with any gluten free bread. It's hard to find and $5+ a loaf locally, so I am really glad I can get it from Amazon. Perfect for camping or trips because it doesn't have to be frozen. At home, I do store it in the fridge and freeze half of the loaf because it takes me over a week to eat a loaf.
